Coal Valley Vineyard is a progressive, family owned winery located at the estuary of the Coal River in South East Tasmania. We are focused on, and passionate about, producing (small quantities of) high quality, cool climate wine. Sustainable agriculture is important to us and guides our vineyard practices.
We are located in the Coal River Valley, one of Tasmania's premier wine producing regions. A beautiful valley located a short 15 minutes drive from Hobart and surrounding the historic village of Richmond. With Richmond at its core, a number of wineries, a cheesery, an oyster farm, seafood restaurant and wood fired pizza venues, the valley makes an ideal day trip from Hobart . Our vineyard is the first one on the wine touring route and so is a good place to start your day, or finish your day .. or perhaps get stuck at all day … enjoying the wine, food, views and special Tasmanian ambience here. We are also very close to the Hobart Airport for those visitors looking for somewhere to enjoy their last few hours in Tasmania.
Wine tastings at the cellar door of our Sparkling, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Merlot are in the expert hands of Amy Russell and Sheralee Davies who run The Coterie at Coal Valley Vineyard. Casual, relaxed and friendly, The Coterie is also a Wine Bar offering a selection of Tasmanian wines, beers and ciders.
