The Coal Valley Vineyard cellar door restaurant is a relaxed, informal eating place where locals and visitors gather to enjoy food, wine, the company of others and to enjoy the sweeping views of the Coal River Valley. A light, modern, contemporary space with floor to ceiling windows perched just above the vines. When the weather permits, dining on the terrace is magic. You will feel as if you are far more than the 15 minutes from Hobart that you are, and can get the feeling that the clocks have stopped.
Owners Todd and Gill welcome you 7 days a week from 11am to 5pm for wine tastings & sales and lunch. Chef Paul offers a menu that includes delicious snacks, small plates and full meals which are perfectly suited to the wine and the unique ambience at Coal Valley Vineyard. A feature of the varied menu is meat cooked in Paul's smoker. The smoker cooks the meat slowly 150 degrees and imparts a delicious smokey flavour. Shoulders of beef take a slow six hours and is fall apart tender, juicy and full of flavour when finished. Paul built the smoker himself during his July break and you can see it out the end of the restaurant by the vineyard if you are curious. The restaurant caters for vegans, gluten free and vegetarians.
